Kite-flying skills to be displayed on banks of Ganges in Kashi; 16 teams to showcase their talent

Varanasi, Jan 10 (UNI) Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Khelo India' campaign, the excitement of kite flying is about to begin in the holy city of Kashi.
The Varanasi Municipal Corporation will organize a grand two-day kite competition on the sandbanks opposite Dashashwamedh Ghat from January 12.
On Saturday, Mayor Ashok Kumar Tiwari announced that a total of 16 teams will participate in the competition.
According to the rules, each team will have two members, and each participant will be allowed to fly two kites. Four matches will be played on each of the two days.
The winners of the competition will be awarded cash prizes. The Mayor said that the main objective of this event is to promote traditional sports and to instill enthusiasm among the youth of Kashi before the Makar Sankranti festival. This programme is dedicated to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The competition will be held from 10 am to 5 pm in the sandy area opposite Dashashwamedh Ghat. A total of 16 teams will showcase their skills.
The first prize will be Rs. 51,000, the second prize Rs. 21,000, and the third prize Rs. 11,000.
